ترقد العذراء بسلام وهدوء على سرير،
وهي تلبس ثوب بني اللون دلالةً على طبيعتها البشريةIcon of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, Mother of God
Virgin Mary, Mother of God:
Rest in peace and quiet on a bed,
She wears a brown dress as a sign of her human nature
Above it was a golden robe, indicative of the glory and grace of the Lord that overshadowed it.
And we see the disciples shrouding the Virgin in preparation for her burial in the tomb of Gethsemane.
As we see two angels opening the gates of the kingdom to her.
While she throws her girdle to the Apostle Thomas.
And Jesus Christ stands in the center of the icon in full glory
Wearing golden colour. Surrounded by a halo of light
Rays emerge from it to fill the icon with radiance and glow.
His size is larger than all to indicate that he is the master of all.
Above it is written in Greek IC XC which means "Jesus Christ"
carrying a shrouded little child,
A symbol of the immaculate soul of the Virgin,
And around him, the angels gather with their heads bowed towards him.
The first two angels hold two candles,
Behind them, the rest of the angels line up in their gilded clothes.

العذراء مريم والدة_الإله:
ترقد بسلام وهدوء على سرير،
وهي تلبس ثوب بني اللون دلالةً على طبيعتها البشرية
وفوقه رداء ذهبي اللون دلالةً على مجد ونعمة الرب التي ظللتها.
و نرى التلاميذ يكفنون العذراء تمهيداً لدفنها في قبر الجسمانية.
كما نرى ملاكين يفتحان لها أبواب الملكوت،
فيما هي ترمي زنارها لتوما الرسول.
ويقف السيد المسيح في مركز الأيقونة بكامل مجده
لابساً اللون الذهبي. وتحيط به هالة من النور
تنبثق منها الأشعة لتملأ الأيقونة إشراقاً وتوهجاً.
حجمه أكبر من الجميع وذلك للدلالة على أنه سيد الكل.
فوقه مكتوب باليونانية IC XC التي تعني "يسوع المسيح"
وهو يحمل طفلاً صغيراً مكفناً،
رمزاً لروح العذراء الطاهرة،
وحوله يتجمهر الملائكة برؤوسهم المنحنية صوبه.
يحمل أول ملاكين شمعتين،
وخلفهما يصطف باقي الملائكة بثيابهم المذهبة.
